PEPCON rocket fuel plant disaster.

The plant manufactured an oxidizer called Ammonium Perchlorate. Ammonium Perchlorate is not in itself a fuel but a key component. It will however explode if heated to a high temperature in a confined space.

Actually, if you're from the U.S., which I'm guessing you are, the biggest you guys tested was a least 15 megatons in the '50s.

What's amazing is that the pipe that fueled the blaze was twenty inches in diameter before the explosion. Afterward, it was crumpled into the size of a fist.

Imagine if it all went up at once. A good part of Henderson would have easily been decimated.
